If you want a cheaper, but good auto, try a 390. They are not 3.5, but I don't think you need it. You can get them new for $530. I have one, and have only had a problem once, and it was from the prev owner not breaking it down. (Todd) It works great, and you saw it in action the on sat.

if you can still find a benelli m1, you won't be sorry. it doesn't shoot 3.5 inch shells.
you should be able to find used ones around $5-700 |

Chris what can you tell me about the Mossberg 935? I have had a few guys tell me they are the best shooting and best patterning guns they have owned. One of the guys is about as wise in this field as anhyone I have ever heard about and I believe him.
What have you seen? |

I don't know a ton but what I have heard is positive. The main draw back to them is they will not cycle 2.75 in shells. This is stated by mossberg in the owners manual so that is a drawback if you want to use it for anything other then waterfowl or turkey. My buddy bought one two seasons ago and is pleased with his but as for seeing it in action I bet he's only hunted with it a hand full of times since he bought it. They are overbored to 10 ga. bore so the patterns should be good as well and at $500 for a decent semi auto it is hard to beat.

You should get an official red ryder carbine action two-hundred shot range model air rifle.
I hear they are good. |

Actually, its going to be a bit yet, but I am really looking at the Baikal/Remington SPR 453...have been reading up reports on them and they seem like a good gun for the money. Even if I don't like it, they can usually resell for around what they sell for new. Most of the guys I have spoken to that have one seem to really like them. Its harder to find info about them since they are not as present as the higher end guns, but they were rated the best semi auto under $800 for waterfowl hunters at one time. I shouldered one, and it feels pretty good...not too light not too heavy, and it fits me well. I will probably add a tru glow sight to it, but it comes with 4 factory extended chokes, one of which is a steel full that i would like to try for snow goose hunting. They are not pretty, but they seem to be a workhorse. I think for now I may get one, and when i am working steady again in a year or two, pick up a nicer semi auto. For $400, if it is even a reliable backup gun, I would like to try one.

If you can find a used SBE, I'd snatch it. I'd sell you mine, but I plan on shooting it for another 20 years or so.
For autoloaders, I don't think you can go wrong with Beretta, Benelli, Winchester, or Browning. Have fun cleaning the gas pistons in the gas operated guns, though. For pumps, I think the BPS is the best pump out there. I just don't like how it feels, though. It seems awfully front heavy and just heavy in general. The Nova's seem to be good guns. Every one I've ever handled, new or old, the pump is already loose and 'rattly'. For the money, an 870 may be the best gun out there.

I have heard good reports on the Bikal guns imported by remington also. I have never seen one or held one but reports seem positive. There is a gun show at the fairgrounds on the 24th of April. I bet you could find one there. chris |

XtremaII, SBE II, Super X3 for pricey guns
Rem 11-87, Mossburg 500 for cheaper guns You can be just as quick killing birds with a pump than a semi auto...I don't remember anyone shooting 9 shots in under 3 seconds at any waterfowl :P
