Alright ive got 2 dozen old flambeau canada shells and i was thinking about converting some of them to snows to add a lil something diff to the spread. Is this something that i should try and if so how many should i do? I primarily hunt honkers but do occasionally try my hand at snows if they are using fields i have permission for.

2 dozen is a good start. Most people run spread of 200 to 2000 decoys for snows.

yeah those numbers maybe necessary for the hardcore snow hunter but i was thinking more along the lines of just running some snow deeks in with my regular canadian spread for both canadians and snows. right now if i hunt snows i know where they are goin and from which direction so i usually sit in a fencerow and get'em as they are coming to feed.
so maybe my real question should be will it make a diff or not if I added snows to my canada spread when hunting for canadians. wouldnt the snow deeks make them more visible especially in early season??? |

that all depends if there are snows in your area when the canadas are around....the best thing to do is to mimic what you see when birds are feeding....if there are snows mixed in when you scout em, then go for it...if not, i would be leery about it.

I have expeierenced exactly what Altrocker said. If there are now snow feeding with the canads then don't try it. If there are a few snows feeding with them then do what they do. Typically the are in a small group of to the side a bit and in front of the canadas. Snows are fast and greedy feeders like mallards, so you will them keeping feeding or hopscotching over/in front of the main body
