Q: How does a guy living in Colorado get hooked up on an Iowa waterfowling forum? A: Easy. Marry an Iowa gal. Or, cross paths with Adam. Or both!
Actually, I hunt more in KS & WY than in CO. And I grew up in the midwest and can't wait to get back there. Friendliest people in the US.

I have hunted waterfowl in probably a dozen states (I travelled on the job for 23 years). Everybody has an adddiction, mine was always duck hunting. Now don't get me wrong, I like big game hunting, but nothing replaces hunting where dogs are involved. And for me, there is something special, spiritual, about being on the river in 8 degree weather watching the sun rise. I have a better sense of "God" in that setting than I do in church - - and I go to church. Give me a choice between a world class duck/goose hunt or a world class elk hunt, and I'm gonna take the waterfowl hunt everytime.

I'm an avid reloader - pistols, rifles, shotguns. Started reloading steel shot as soon as the components became available. Reloaded steel shot when it was probably cheaper to buy it. My uncle started me reloading for him using a Lee Loader (hand type) for his trapshooting when I was 11 years old. He sat at the kitchen table and watched while I loaded. I felt privileged that he trusted me to load for him. He was a top shooter in our region. That was well over 40 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. Reloading is my second addiction.

My third adddiction: bird dogs. I don't care what brand. My goal before I die: to hunt over every breed of bird dog I possibly can.

Thank you all for that great Midwest Hospitality. Maybe we'll meet in person someday when I'm at a trapshoot in IA or visiting in-laws. Do you all ever have forum "get-togethers"?

And I gotta say the site itself shows a commitment to excellence - not just slapped together. Nicely formatted. Good eye appeal. I noticed right away that the soft background reduces eye strain. Good clarity in the pictures - maybe the best clarity of any site I've been on regarding pics and avatars. Looks like some thought and effort went into this project.

I used to live in Evanston Wy. Like you I am stuck on bird hunting. Have you had a chance to hunt the Cranes out there yet?
Geese are what I go for now. An extra hand and good shot are always welcome.
