Default Hunting from a boat regulations??

What are the regulations on hunting from a boat adjacent to private land?
I scoured the hunting regulations and waterfowl regulations and came up empty.

Okay, so I called the DNR in Des Moines and it depends on the section of stream you're on and how they define that section as meandered or non-meandered. If it's NON-meandered the property owner owns the streambed and any foot, anchor, trap stake, etc.. can be considered tresspassing. BUT the water is considered public access, in other words you can float it, but you can't anchor on it.

I hope this helps others too.

i've had to deal with people doing this on one of my families propertys that have several drainage ditches that run through that you can navigate by boat and people always think that it is ok to put the anchor out which it isnt, they are tresspassing.
my parents also own some ground along the iowa river but the only problems we've had there is with tresspassers mushrooming and deer hunting. never seen anyone sitting in a boat duck hunting there. and we probably wouldnt say anything unless they were sitting on the bank

I thought that the regs. said that if the stream/river is considerd meanderd/floatable at most times, that the watter and its banks up to the traditional or normal high water mark are public ground and that you could anchor or stake your boat in place or even sit on the bank if the water was low enough to do so and as long as you stayed below the traditional high water mark, not meaning where the water was during a catostrophic flood. But if the stream is non-meanderd then the whole thing is private including the banks and river bed, which would be tresspassing if you hunted it and touched the bottum with anything including decoy waits or anchors. If it was deep enough to float you could legaly float it as long as you touched nothing but the water and only shot within the banks of the stream. It would just be a good idea to get permishion from the land owner and avoid any problems and bad publicity for all hunters. It is also illegal to shoot from a boat while it is moving from the power of a motor.
