Default REEL WINGS DECOYS

i just bought a reel wing duck decoy (they are round with the wings on the sides) and flew it out in the back yard. It looks really good in the air and flashs about as good as a robo duck. but i have never hunted with it. has anyone used these things in the field and are they worth the trouble. i will be hunting mine out of a duck boat and all ready see problems with getting it into the air. let me know if you have used one and what you did to get it to fly out of the duck boat

I have only used them for snow geese. However, I got a buddy that Staffs for Reel wings and guides out of Seboygan and he uses them all the time for ducks and geese. I think he mostly usses the ones that spin on the ground, not the flyers.

Come to think about it.... we have used them for diver hunting with good success.

We used them this spring and they seemed to draw the snows down. We would pull them all the way down when they started to work though. Never flared any.

I would never use a Reelwing and anyone who hunts with me won't even get a chance to bring them out into the field. The owner is a royal ducsh. He use to drive around Fargo, ND with dead snow geese on his Cadillac Escalade. What a horrible way for advertising. He is just a puke in my mind. And I would highly advise that no one use his products.

Cabelas had some good reviews on them, thats why i thought i would throw $20 bucks away and give it a try. When you get them in the air and look at the thing, i dont see how it could not work. the onyl problem is wind, and in northwest Iowa we have all the wind we need. Has anyone flown one of these things out of a duck boat

Haven't used one personally but the week I spent in Nebraska late last year I saw 1 in action 3 straight days. Impressive! Those boys put the smackdown on some mallards. We got up at 2am the next day and beat them to the X by 5 minutes. We killed out as well with only 2 spinners. Take it for what it's worth but..... that thing sure caught my eye enough times.

I'd say if the wind was there, it's gonna help. 1st time it splashed down, It'd be back in the boat.
