Default Geese on Ice???

I was just curious how many of you guys hunt geese on the ice?

I've never done it before but am thinking about doing it late late season.

I don't know much about it except that you wanna do it when the lakes are solid and the river are flowing slush and you wanna use your sleeper and rester shells.

Will they land on any pond that have your decs on them or is it like fields where if they aren't using it, they're not landing?

Any tips or ideas on how to pick a good pond or any tips what so ever would be appreciated.

I've never shot geese over an ice hole I created but I have broken a lot of ice so I've got a few ideas for you.

Bring extra clothes in the vehicle.
Break the area open twice the size you think you need.
Make sure you break sheets and slide them under the rest of the ice, don't leave the hole full of chunks.
Get under a traffic line with good visibility if they haven't been using it.
Don't just use your resters, put out a few feeders and actives as well.
Take em when you got em.

Good luck.

It amazing. Remember to pack the decoys a little closer then normal, don't use many decoys with feet, have most of your decoys sitting on their bellies. Use floaters and have fun.
