I'm just saying... this is the reason deer hunters and people who call jumping woodies duck hunting should not be able to vote!

basically guy stated he did not want to propose a 3 zone structure until he recieved the survey info, knowing full well that the cutoff from the usfws was july 31st. they were a little upset that he didn't mention that it was a possibility since he suspected that the survey would not be complete by then. the survey data was made public today for the first time, which is obviously too late to even consider a 3 zone split since it was never an option in the first or second proposal.

I felt Guy tried to pull a fast one by not giving the NRC 100% of the information he had, also i feel that the survey he had was a bit skewed. When you ask a hunter what week they prefer to hunt the majority will say the first week of the season or the 3rd week of sept in our case. Guy then added the 4th week of sept and the first 2 weeks of oct to the 3rd week of sept data.

Arrow Re: New season proposals 2011-12

Guys need to plot this out on the Iowa map. This is what passed today as well and everyone should take note of that.

Quote:
The north duck hunting zone is that part of Iowa north of a line beginning at South Dakota-Iowa border at Interstate 29, southeast to Woodbury County Road D38, east to Woodbury County Road K45, southeast to State Highway 175, east to State Highway 37, southeast to State Highway 183, northeast to State Highway 141, east to U.S. Highway 30, and along U.S. Highway 30 to the Iowa-Illinois border. The south duck hunting zone is the remainder of the state.

The 3rd zone stuff doesn't bother me, there was no way with out playing what if games to know if FWS would even allow it until 2 weeks ago. Hell, even now that it's allowed the states still have to prove going forward that hunter satisfaction has improved and harvest hasn't gone up, or the option could go away.

Much MUCH better we take the next year to hash out the possibilities and do it right since we'll be stuck with what ever decision is made until 2016.

moving the zone line up to Souix city was a very nice first step, now we have a year to make sure the 3rd zone issue isn't a cluster next August.

Looks like the hardcores won today(ass slap), next year someone will probably want the north zone to start a week earlier, then I'll get crabby again it's a viscous cycle. Till then we can all be happy as school girls knowing the task at hand thats upon us and that's a fistful of green heads. Cheers!

I appologise to everyone for getting so damn cranky over the subject. The way everything went about from the late proposal, to the survey data, got me angry at everything and everyone. My bad. I will play nice for a while.

Does that mean we can kiss and make up?

A little insight Jr to the zone issue. There is no way in hell it is going anyplace anytime soon. Those issues you pointed to had to be worked out before the USFWS granted it. Which was part of the problem they rejected the firts time this year.

Problem is resolved.
