Default Boat Blinds

My friends and I are building our first boat blind this year. We are on a very tight budget.....just wondering what kinds of ideas you guys have.

Thanks for your input

My neighbor kid built a "scizzor type" fold down blind last fall on his 16 foot lowe. He said he only had about 300 in it. He built the frame and then had black canvas sewn on it. He painted the canvas brown. He used grass mats for the backing and put raffia grass over those. He got the raffia grass from a craft supply place for a little bit of nothing. We put a big hunk of raffia on the front and a cover over the outboard on it. We killed a lot of ducks out of it, and birds never flared from it.

The Duck Hunter's Boat Page

There are a ton of different ways. Google "Scissor blind" for ideas. This guy used parts to a Bimini top. I bet someone on here will show you some pictures of there blind to give you some ideas. Good Luck!

Can you weld?? If so, you should be able to make a basic low profile hardside blind for well under $300. Let me know, and I can give you some good ideas and a few ways to save some money. Since you live around the quad cities, I can direct you where to go for material. Huff

I'm in the same situation as you. I just got a mod-v 1652 and I need to figure out something soon. If I go hard blind I don't have anywhere to paint the skin. I was thinking of having a scissors blind frame welded and use rubber roofing as a rain and wind barrier.

Visit the blind forum and you will see the one I built this year (not quite finished) and the one that Gooosehunter131 built this spring. His is on a 14'er and mine is on a 16'er, that is now a 17.5'er thank to marshmonsters pods that I had put on.

Ringbill did build a hell of blind, but I think he built it for someone that has shoulders the width of mine rather than for a gorilla like him.

You would be suprised. It looks narrow, but it fits a gorilla like me quite nicely.

It must have been the photographer. He did a pretty good job for his age though.
