They will do this if the field they want to feed in happens to be into the wind from their roost.
Watch geese you will see birds go all directions no matter the wind. |

I've seen geese go out with the wind and fly back into the wind.

Usually later in the year when its real cold they will go out into the wind and then ride it back, last weekend when it was 70 with a 15 mph south wind they went every which direction. But food does play alot in the direction they will go.

dang you guys aren't helping me. The geese were hitting my corn field really hard. but now there is another one to the south and they started using that one. There about a mile apart with the geese in the middle. I was hoping you guys would tell me what I wanted to hear and tomorrows strong winds would push them my way..
thanks anyways.. But wait heres a new question anyone do the "create your own X" by leaving decoys out in a field? Seems to me they would spook after they landed. |

I don't like the morning frost on my decoys so we normally don't leave them out. But if we do leave them, we come back with propane torches in the morning and burn the frost off them before the light breaks.

I don't like leaving them out at all. IMO this makes geese wise to decoys and also puts you in the risk of getting them stolen.
