Hello everyone, I am a pheasant hunter who has given up! Im sick of walking miles just for a chance at one rooster a day (if im lucky). I know next to nothing about duck hunting but im excited to give it a try. A buddy of mine took me out and we had a great time, shot our limit within 2 hours.
My question is, how productive is red rock for waterfowl? is it a place where a guy could limit every weekend? tell me everything you know! |

Sorry to burst your bubble, but there isn't a single place in Iowa that a guy can limit EVERY weekend!

I don't know anything about Red Rock, but just wanted to say hello. I was in your shoes a few years ago, so I took up water fowling. I guess you have a little more perseverance than I did!

If ya wanna shoot limits everytime ya go then save your money and take some trips up to canada or down to missouri.... If ya wanna get out and learn more about it and just be out in the WILD and get the feeling of accomplishment when you go out find a spot set up with YOUR equipment and get into em then start buying some deeks and just get out and pay attention to what people do and figure out what works and most important have fun!!!!!!! numbers dont mean everything we cant all be movie stars

Corn, corn, corn and corn.
All we have in Iowa is millet, smartweed and begger lice. You want a place to get a limit every weekend then try Missouri. They have flooded corn. And ducks too!! |

I would not complain if I was able to do this once or twice, but will be a long time before I might be able to. Till then I'll tough it out sitting in the mud and working for every duck shot. |

Welcome. Get ready to be broke! I too am a frustrated pheasant hunter who decided to hunt something that actually exists! Several thousand dollar latter... havn't looked back.
Pretty sure I could limit out every weekend at NIACC... just have to be able to out run the cops! |

I can vouch for money spent and asking questions. On GOOD DAYS it can be a blast, as you discovered. Other days it can be frustrating, as you watch ducks fly and all they do is give you the finger.
