new to Iowa Duck hunting

Move to Iowa from Missouri a little over a year ago. I am sick of driving back to Missouri to duck hunt. I am a big waterfowl hunter and my family ran duck clubs in western Missouri, eastern Missouri, and northeast AR. I thought I would join this site to learn more about duck hunting in Iowa. I leave 5 mins from lake red rock and would like to start hunting duck somewhere a little closer then Missouri. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome redlegs,
Keep all those contacts in those duck hunting states!
Here in Iowa it is hit and miss and when the birds are not here not much any of us can do.
Many times depending on which side of the state you are on the birds come through when the season is closed.
Either way welcome

Welcome to the site. Not familiar with hunting around red rock, but in general you'll get a few excellent days and some decent days snd mostly days where you should be happy with 1 or2. That's how I've grown up hunting this state and I don't think it's so bad but I've never hunted out of state where there are birds on top of birds. Just go out and find them. Probably better luck finding geese.

Dont waste your gas, there are plenty of places in Iowa you can do very well duck hunting, and red rock is deffinatley one of them.

I dont know the area that well but on years we have a good amount of water people I know do very well there.

Several years and never had a day I havent limited out in Missouri! I would waste the gas

I'd say keep in tune with the migration as best you can. When we have ducks in Iowa hunt the Rock. But when the ducks are in MO make the drive.

If you want someone to share in the cost of fuel then give me a shout.
