Default New Guy On the Block

My name is Mike and just moved to Iowa Sept 2010 from Illinois. Have Duck hunted mostly at Sanganoise Conservation Area last 20 Years. Public Hunting. Iowa is totally new to me. Built a Blind on my Boat for first time and never got to use it. Don't really know where to go. Was used to pre built brushed blinds and was blind owner several different times with friends through yearly Draw. Now here in iowa next to Waterloo area don't know where to go. Tried to do my homework and scouting but Big Marsh didn't turn out to be such a great place to even try my luck. Sweet marsh might have been better but seemed too shallow for my 40 hp motor. Am 54 years old and retired since 52. live on my wifes family farm now with plenty of time to hunt. Tried the walk in sceen when I was younger and guess I grew tired of that at middle age.LOL. I don't know anyone to hunt with as like I said I am new to the area so stuck hunting by my-self with my new Female Lab Gunner and she hasn't been duck hunting yet but did great retrieving Doves this year.Would like to try hunting the Mississippi River someday but don't know where to go for Iowa side. I like the area up around Prairie Duchein and down around Fort Madison. But long way to travel for a days hunt but would do it if I had an idea where to go and get in a pre built blind. Would appreciate any and all suggestions!

Welcomento the site. I have hunted the ole miss a few times. Get ahold of me next fall. I like hunting it late after the pansies give up for the year.
