Is it possible to set a spread on geese that can see you? There are some geese on a city pond that are feeding just off the pond where they can see you set up. Any suggestions?

Have one guy distract them with a couple loaves of bread while you throw decoys out.
Or just set up in the dark... |

Setting up at dark on a cloudy evening. That is the only way. And even with that, you still wanna set the spread at the farther point of the "X" away you can. They have amazing night vision for some reason. I have spooked them off the roost on a full moon evenings trying the exact same thing.
BTW, 6 decoys will bring them in if they are using this area.

Distance will be the factor in how this plays out. If their on a city pond they shouldn't be to nervous. How far from the pond are you setting up?

Watched a guy do it behind Gerdin's old Maytag warehouse in Coralville. There are 2 retention ponds that the ducks and geese are thick on. We were putting in a new sewer main on the back side. I watch them for a couple days wondering if I could set up on the field just west of the pond that butts up to city limits. Well the next thing I know I guy shows up on his quad and lays out a bunch of shells. Then lays down in a waterway and throws a sheet with grass on it over him. I'm thinking no frickin way will it work. He was only about 70 yards from the geese in broad daylight. After about an hour the geese go up and flew right into him. Game over!!
