I'm actually pretty new to the game, so for right now I'm just selling them to the fur buyer as is, maybe next year I will have more info. But for now I just got a fox, a possum, and a coon today.

Congrats on the fox. Not many people can say that was their first catch. Iowa Trappers Talk http://jpjohannes.proboards.com/index.cgi#general has a ton of information.

As to fur prep, skinning is very easy to learn and will add several dollars to each pelt. Another option in "putting up" your fur, which will also add several dollars to each pelt, but I personally do not enjoy fleshing and drying hides so I just sell in the "green"(skinned out)

Thanks for the website Iowa Trapper, should help me next year. I'm betting ill be mostly a late season trapper, maybe run some short lines in the fall since waterfowling takes up so much of my time.

Aint that the truth... all my hobbies are at the same time, waterfowl, trapping, deer hunting, pheasant hunting... Atleast I can run a line in the morning and still smack ducks on the weekends in the afternoon.

A friend of mine just got back from Alaska. Here is a picture of the fox he shot up there...

The fox isn't nearly as cool as the ducks they shot up there though...
