Hi im from Illinois about three hours from the Universtiy Of Northern Iowa and ive been looking at going to the colege but have a real curiosity how the waterfowl hunting is in the area. i have a place to store all my hunting equipment but it would be nice to know more about the hunting area. Such as availablitly types of waterfowl in area, public blinds and such. If anyone has any helpful information please let me know thanks!!

Mostly teal, wood ducks, and mallards come down the cedar along with a pile of Canada geese. Might not be the best place in IA, but there are enough birds to make it worth your while.

go to iowadnr.com and scan over the hunting tab and click on places to hunt and shoot, once your on that page go to the bottom and click on the recreational map viewer, its an interactive map that shows all of the public hunting areas in the state of iowa, a little hard to use at first but you should get the hang of it, i sure used it alot this year!

Welcome to the site. There are a lot of good people on here that will let you hunt with them once you get to know them a little bit.

3 public WMAs with in a hr drive.
Big marsh 30ish min(ducks only) Sweets marsh 40ish min(ducks only) Otter Creek 50ish min(ducks & geese) They all receive lots of pressure but have there good days. As for the city of CF itself it gets the dogshit hunted out of it. UNI is a great school and a pretty campus. |

I'm currently a UNI student. Hunting opportunities on public land can be great around here if you set your fall classes up to go during the week (i usually go Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). UNI is a great school in a great town!

I used to love going up there during homecoming week. I still say that UNI has the best looking girls in the state.

Homecoming is always fun but it's been quiet this year in my opinion. I think too many cops and not enough for them to do...they like to pester the kids

Welcome to the site! There are plenty of oppurtunities in the area. The marshes that were stated are obvious choices but there is also the river and small public hunting areas that shouldn't be passed up as well.

I always enjoyed keeping Holly and Kelly (two hot Cedar Falls cops) busy.
