Post Jeff Calls for Action on Larger Late Zone Proposal

Fellas,

It’s the first call to action. We need to prompt the NRC to pursue some action on this proposal. The next step is most likely for the NRC to ask the DNR to send survey cards out to the proposed area to determine whether or not there is true support for the later season. So, here is what I need from you – it is VERY important that you ALL take the time to do this:

Below, in the bold text, is a message to the NRC. Please COPY AND PASTE the message into a NEW email (do not forward this one) and send it to the following people (you can copy and paste the email addresses).

Conrad.clement@dnr.iowa.gov
Greg.drees@dnr.iowa.gov
Kim.francisco@dnr.iowa.gov
Sally.prickett@dnr.iowa.gov
Janelle.rettig@dnr.iowa.gov
Dennis.schemmel@dnr.iowa.gov
Margo.underwood@dnr.iowa.gov
Roger.lande@dnr.iowa.gov

Dear Natural Resource Commissioners,

I’m sure by now you’ve been informed of a proposal changing Iowa’s current zone/season structure. I am aware that there is a zone along the Missouri River and I fully support that zone, believing any increase in hunter opportunity is positive. However, the new proposal is one that would benefit a much greater number of waterfowl hunters in the state – allowing hunters across the state an additional week of hunting, encouraging travel within the state to take advantage of those late season opportunities for late season ducks in December and late season geese in January and encourages Iowa hunters that are currently having to travel to other states to chase late season fowl to stay IN STATE and hunt. There are many other benefits to the proposed late zone that I will not delve into at this time.

I do ask that you encourage the DNR to engage and consider the proposal whether that be generating a survey for those in the proposed area or to make a formal proposal for the proposed zone. I do also ask that this action begins as soon as possible as we are up against a short timeline in order to complete the needed steps to approve a season and/or zone structure change before the USFWS deadline for this opportunity.

Thank you for your service on the commission and thank you for your consideration on this issue.

Signed,

*Please sign your name and leave your city/state.

Thank you guys – we need your help to keep this issue in the front of everyone’s mind. Please take a moment to copy the above message and send it to the Natural Resource Commission. If you have the time, follow up your email with a phone call to each commissioner asking them to take action as well. Keep getting the word out there to generate support!

Thanks for all of your help thus far – please take a moment to do this. It’s imperative if we want to get this season structure passed,

Jeff Gudenkauf
If you haven't seen the proposal send Jeff an e mail and take a look at the 3rd zone proposal map he has done. gudey@hotmail.com

This takes hardly any time at all guys and gals! If your in support of this proposal, there is no reason to not follow through, the letter is written, the emails are provided... copy, paste, sign, send! Simple stuff.
Big Thanks again Jeff, as well as Bill and anyone else involved in helping with this!

Thanks guys - keep up the good work.

This is probably going to have to be a weekly or semi-weekly activity, but I'll continue sending emails out to those in support and try to keep the forum updated as well.

Thanks for the heads up and making the action so easy on us!

EMAILS sent to the NRC and my hunting friends, hope the rest of you do the same!

Is this also going to be posted on the "other forum", or would you like me to post it there? If I can be of more help, let me know!

Adam

Ok for those that sent it early today, send that same letter again.
It has purpose and if you still havent gotten a response from any of them, keep sending that letter every single day until you do get a response.
