Kevin, have you ever been to Iowa??

A good introduction would be the Iowa State Fair. It is a spectacle............. of course, you may never come back.

In the wise words of Andy Fales,

"Why would I make fun of people at the fair.. to the contrary, in fact.. I mean to compliment them! Oh, I saw some things that made me scratch my head, but that was only at first glance. At second glance I saw some things that made me reconsider my narrow minded view of fairfolk. Made me wonder if they hadn't just figured out a few things that the rest of us have yet to grasp.

Like these people's dedication to wearing socks with sandals. To me, that now makes perfect sense. You want the added ventilation and mobility provided by a sandal, yet you don't want to sacrifice that luxurious feel and professional look of a black dress sock. Plus, don't forget they cover up that unsightly toenail fungus very nicely. Bingo. Black socks, sandals. The folks at the state fair have figured out this equation.

Ditto to the ones who have teeth that resemble those of an exhumed corpse. Gingivitis, though typically controlled by tooth brushing, can still get to the best of us. The folks at the fair have got that all covered, too. They combat the sight of a rotted grill by wearing shiny, expensive looking earrings. One might wonder why on earth bother wearing earrings when the one and only thing anyone is going to notice is that your teeth look like rancid baked beans? Well these are some pretty serious earrings I am talking about, as a matter of fact some of them appear to be battery powered! They don't just stop at that.

Bad teeth are further disguised by a dandruff infested mustache and an airbrushed t shirt with a misspelled word or two or a long flowing mullet, which by the way have seemed to obtain a newfound vintage like chic. These are just a few of the things that I picked up at the fair this year... and somehow everything just makes a little more sense now."

God I miss watching soundoff.

I'd put something in her mouth, and it wouldn't be bubble gum.
