Saw several thousand today in the spread. Swans and specks at tennis racket range. All the snows stayed long or had specks in the way. Had a frst timer with me but couldn't get him a shot. Only had a handful actually work me.

I'm still trying to find a 10 gauge mini gun, a blackhawk and a million rounds of 3 1/2 heavy shot.

Were the birds headed north or west? All adults? Snow is about gone here just west of Des Moines.

Almost all adults, very few juvies. Watched several thousand show up yesterday but there were only a few hundred to a thousand on the roost at noon. Today we set up in a field they were in yeserday. Got out there to find no corn for them and no cover for us. Spreads everywhere this a.m. with a huge one behind me ~halfmile, they volleyed twice. One other group shot once. We had a few work but nothing got low enough. Had two lock up, drop in and, were going to kill em on the next pass but they slid off. I'm open the next two days and will probably take tomorrow off to finish my last 50 SS but may try it Monday. Have to keep the faith, this weekend was a dry run for the killable birds. I didn't get many pics because I was thinking about shooting so I missed a few good oppurtunities, but here's a few. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Snows, Blues and ducks are working north. We had a BB game in Clarinda last night and they were working the fields north of town along the Nodaway River.
Came out after the game was greeted by a couple inches of snow and winds pushing 30mph. Fields are getting very wet and talking 40's and 50' into Monday followed by more rain. Dean |

4 to 8 inches of snow in NW Iowa and the dakotas with a strong NW wind. I think the birds will stay put down south for a bit yet. Chance of snow next week as well.

This snow won't stick long but even so I'm hoping the handful of birds we had didn't bail. This weekend I'm supposed to hunt a pasture in their flight path that should have some sheetwater (assuming this snow melts). Either way, Sunday looks good for fresh birds and I'll be out 2 or 3 of the next 3 days.

there will be a decent number of juvies in nw mo arount the 11th i would guess...there are a good number of adults in sw iowa, and they didn't leave because of the snow. i don't think they got a lot down there. central mo didn't get any snow so i would guess they will be moving a lot sat, sun, mon...
