Default Stay here Dodge!

Well last Friday I was all fired up to pick up my new truck but ended up telling the dealer to stick it in his a**.

I went in for some service work on my Dodge on the 10th, and I was pissing and moaning to the wife about why in the hell am I putting another set of tie rods and wheel bearings on my dodge at only 80k miles. So she suggest I get a new truck. So while I am back paying for my service work she is talking to the salesmen for me. So after I pay for my work I she pawns him off on me.

I was really not that interested in trading, cuz I only have 10 more months to pay on mine. But he shot me a good trade in price, and what I thought was a good price on a new Ford. Anyway, I ended up signing a deal sheet with them on the 15th, and they had to do a dealer trade for my new truck so it didn't come in until Friday the 17th. When I get there Friday they start pushing paperwork at me as fast as they could, and I figured out why.

They had a "new" deal sheet they wanted me to sign, cuz the "worked" the numbers again and got me a better deal. They said they used my supplier discount, ect ect ect. "Trust me, its a better deal!" We Bullchit! They knocked my trade price by 6K! So the paperwork shuffle must have been their attempt to confuse me so I wouldn't see what was going on. I took me 30 min to get a straight answer out of them on what was going on with the paperwork and stayed pretty calm I must say. But when the guy pointed to my salary on the credit check sheet and told me that I could afford this payment, cuz I made more than him, I just about came unglued.

I told him that he was completely right. I could afford to get f*cked. But that I wasn't in that business. But if I was, I would take my 6K down to East Dubuque and get f*cked for 3 days and come home dehydrated. At least then I would have something to show for my money.

I just can't believe the balls they had, and cant help but think how many people just signed the papers and took the hit. What a joke. I am extremely glad there where no kids in the building, cuz I let them have it. Don't think I got through a complete sentence with out 400 cus words!

So the Dodge is staying for a while. Gunna get it detailed this week and pretend its a new truck, since I already got it all cleaned out.

WOW.... all they managed to do there is perpetuate the stereo type of car salesmen being scum! I also would have let them have it. And he pointed out your salary?! That would have made me explode as well.

That sucks! Nothing like getting your hopes up huh? I lucked out when we traded the Trailblazer in. It was getting close to closing time and everyone had already turned off their computers, when the saleman came back and asked what we had decieded to do. I told him that if he couldn't do better on the trade value we were leaving and we might be next week. He came back 10 minutes later with another $500 more than what I was willing to trade at.

The ole' switch a roo.... classic move at the dealers. Just like the asking to hold your DL for a test ride.

Carbuyingtips.com is a wonderful site into the world of the "car dealer" scams...

Woodhouse and Gabus are both great to deal with, but you're going to feel like a number rather than a customer, but they will save you a ton of money. Noah Wolter was the salesman that I dealt with at Charles Gabus. I might get my next truck there or I might get it from Woodhouse.

This happens a lot. If I learned anything about dealerships don't, don't, don't, don't speak to a salesman, ask for the floor manager a cut a deal (in writing, invoiced). It's also best to do this over the phone.

Also make sure the deal includes the tag, title, shipping, etc.

DON'T BE AFRAID TO LEAVE. Do your research, say you'll only pay x (lowest possible), if no (100% likely) leave. Say you have my phone number if you change your mind, call -- but do it soon as I am going to other [brand] dealerships today. He'll say, "good luck." You smile and leave.
