Default First strutter spotted this afternoon

I saw my first strutter working a hen hard at about 4:00 this afternoon. She wanted nothing to do with him though. For those of you guys that know Cedar Rapids pretty well, the bird was just north of 30 across the road from the ADM plant by the railcars. Even though it was inside of city limits it still got the blood flowing. I'm sure that I gave a few of the cars around me a good scare as I was swerving around trying to keep an eye on him.

I saw a tom yesterday strutting as well. They need to knock it off. They are a bit ahead of schedule...

I have a place I drive by for work that always has about 30 birds working it. I'd say about 2 weeks ago I was driving home around 6:30 am and there were 3 good toms all strutting together. Luckily the ground I hunt is about 1/2 mile from there.

I think you need to move your tape measure to the base of the spur

I lined up the 1" line at the base, the end of that tape has a metal piece on it that I couldn't get to sit right for the picture. I wish it was almost 2 1/2 inch. He weighed in around 27 lbs.
