The numbers down there around Squaw are unreal!!

I was down there with some fellow Iawaterfowler members to hunt Sunday afternoon and Monday morning. We scouted Sunday morning and found a huge feed field only to watch the geese fly short/long that afternoon and we managed only a few. The nxt morning was more of the same. Hardly any grain left in the field at all so that could of caused them to switch locations but many other factors as well. Tough conditions with the # of adults in the area right now. Hopefully the juvies start to show up.

They must all be down there. Nothing has been seen from Council Bluffs north. At least on Sunday thru Tuesday when I was down there on a mini vacation with the wife.

The geese have crept over the stateline according to my dad and uncle. They found about 20,000 in the Missouri River Valley. All adult birds very wary they spooked when the train came by.

hopefully this storm hits pretty good and delays the migration a little bit. id like to get after em again when theres close to 2 million on the refuge! 1 million birds is quite the show... 1.5-2 million is ridiculous!! but then again we all need these darn adults to push through.... itll be much easier pickin on those young, e-caller hypnotized, decoy kamikaze wack-jobs!!! LOL

Hoping the first week in march is killer in sw iowa. Headed down tuesday thru sunday but if were killing birds might just stay for another week. Gotta love broken legs off work for 3 months and it just happens to be spring snow season.

Best advise when it comes to hunting snow geese. Find squaw creek on a map, GET AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THERE AS YOU CAN. But good luck to all heading down there to hunt with the hoards!
